Injured in an 1863 Kansas City jail collapse and taken to a Lawrence, Kansas hideaway, Annie Logan is tired of being moved like a pawn piece at the pleasure of warring men.

While Jack Harrington purportedly "rescued" her from fellow Northern soldiers, she is no less a prisoner in Lawrence than she was in Kansas City. Annie has no way of knowing that her life is about to collide with history. Over the next eight days on that blistering Kansas plain Annie's world will explode.

As William Quantrill's Southern sympathizers bear down on Lawrence, determined to wipe the city from the face of the earth, Jack Harrington begins to investigate a series of murders. Annie seeks a way out of Lawrence, only to be caught up in the madness.

Based on a true story, no one in Lawrence those eight days will ever be the same.
